Avatar Mode:
In Avatar Mode, rather than playing a upper-level controller, you will be a character on the battlefield. You will need to protect yourself, and seek out your foes Avatar.
In this variant, players do not have a knockout total.
At the end of each players first turn, they search their deck for any one character, which they call instantly. The character chosen may not have "Alt Lock" or "Burst". While calling them, place 5 Avatar counters on them. This character is called your Avatar.
If Avatar would be destroyed, remove 1 Avatar counter from them and add 1 level 1 link to them. If you would have to remove the last Avatar counte

THE BASICS
The Protect your Link game is a strategy game played by two or more players, each of whom has a customized deck of PyL cards. Over the course of the game, each player will take turns playing cards such as Characters and Scenes. Each player starts at 0 knockouts. When you send your opponent to 10 knockouts by attacking with characters and playing scenes, you win!
Every PyL card has a type. A card's type tells you when you can play the card and what happens to the card after you do.
